NURSE’S RECOMMENDATIONS
Tetanus boosters are recommended for all campers, including adults, if they have not had one within the last ten years. Fifteen-year-old girls probably had their last booster when they entered kindergarten.
If your daughter has a physical problem and is under a doctor’s care, please include a note from the MD with specific instructions for the camp nurse. Failure to do so may unnecessarily limit activities at camp.- If your daughter has a specific medication for hay fever, cramps, etc., please have her bring that medication, labeled, to the nurse.
- Remind your daughter that all medication must be dispensed by the nurse, even OTC drugs such as Tylenol or aspirin. This is legal protection for the camp, to insure safety for your child, and for the safety of small animals that inhabit the camp area. Routine daily vitamins that you list on your child’s medical form need not be dispensed by the nurse.
- Label all medication -prescription and over-the counter-with full name, ward, and age-group level. Be sure to include a good sunscreen, chap stick, insect repellent, and sanitary protection (even if your daughter has not
started her period or has just finished as the altitude can affect her cycle.)
- Planning to pierce ears? Please have it done at least four weeks before camp or wait until camp is over.
- Many girls use B vitamins as an insect repellent. CAUTION: This method is only effective if it is taken daily at least one month before camp as well as during camp
- To eliminate injured toenails, make sure toenails are clipped one week before camp. Be sure hiking footwear is well broken in.
- If we do not have a completed and signed medical form, your daughter may not go to camp.
- A prepared camper is a happy camper!
- If there is an emergency and you need to get contact your daughter, call
